Hexies and Coffee

Now tell me, is there a better way to ease into a Monday morning? I have my coffee and a pile of papers and fabric. Needle, thread, thimble. What a great way to start the week. Do you like those black and white hexies? I do!

The last two weeks have been so busy, but this week I'm hopping off the Merry-Go-Round. Ahhh.... I see lots of sewing happening around here! And Hexie Love fun!

Today I'll be working on replenishing my stash of basted hexies - working on the 1" hexies this morning. This afternoon I'll switch to 3/4" hexies.

We have not had any of the winter weather issues way down here in LA (Lower Alabama). In fact, it's going up to 60 degrees today. But then it will storm and get quite chilly for the rest of the week. Sounds like good weather for sewing!

I do need to take time out to do some grocery shopping (before the rain starts!) and to make a double batch of Whole Wheat Banana Bread. And then, more hexies!

  1. Hi- I am new. Beautiful quilts here. Hopefully beautiful quilters lol. I have been going through my quilt chest and have rediscovered a quilt top I purchased many years ago. I love old handmade quilts and tops and have several. I quilt. I am addicted. I machine piece (forgive me) but hand quilt. I make smaller quilts, baby quilts and wall hangings and lap robes. My love of quilts drove me to collect several very special tops, one of which is a diamond flower basket. I wish to know that this top goes to someone that appreciates what it took to make it. I am in poor health and have only one child and he could never understand what this top represents. Is there anyone you know that could look at this top? It is untouched and in mint condition and I can't bear to see it cast aside when I pass. There are several others in the same condition, but not hexies. Any help you can offer would be very much appreciated. I am not trying to sell anything, I just want these tops to go to someone that understands what they represent. My profile is public so you can check me out fully. The tops were made here in Kentucky but I don't have maker's names. Some, the flower basket for sure, are older tops. The hexies are only just over 1 inch. Anyone that can help or just wants to see the tops can email me or post here or on any of the quit sites I am a member of. Please help me preserve these tops. Thanks for your time and I look forward to following this fascinating group. catgranny54@yahoo.com Mickie Rader.
